2x = x + 30

Q. No. 3: In a circle, a chord subtends a minor arc with central angle 140°. State the central angle of the major arc, and explain what this tells you about the chord’s position relative to the center.

Major arc angle = 360 − 140 = 220°

Since the minor arc’s angle (140°) is less than 180°, the chord does not pass through the center — it is not a diameter.
